The conference

It is five years since the Centre hosted its first international conference on research relating to small businesses in the tourism and hospitality sectors. That event attracted papers from the UK, continental Europe, USA, Australia, Hong Kong and Russia. During the intervening period, there has been a considerable growth of interest in small business policy and research. The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for the dissemination and discussion of current research on a variety of topics relating to small tourism and hospitality firms.

 

Themes will include:

Selected paper presenters will be invited to contribute to a new book that will become part of Pergamon’s Advances in Tourism Research Series. The book – to be edited by Rhodri Thomas – will be entitled Small Firms in Tourism: International Perspectives.

 

Conference timetable:

Registration 11am, 12th September 2002

Close of conference 4 pm, 13th September, 2002

 

Venue

The conference will be held at the Le Meridien Queens hotel, Leeds, an elegant and modern city centre facility. For convenience, the conference fee includes accommodation and meals for the duration of the event. Full papers of 3-5000 words required by: 3rd June 2002

Costs and booking arrangements

The conference fee is £320 per person (this includes accommodation at the conference venue on the 12th September, conference dinner and other meals, delegate pack and proceedings). Alternatively, a day delegate rate is available (£130 per day) and visitors may wish to use alternative accommodation. We are happy to provide details of alternative venues on request.
